All our teacher training programmes provide a solid platform for PLS teachers to become confident and competent early career teachers.  Each teacher training programme allows PLS  teachers to be fully immersed in the world of education, from classroom experience, to the duties of a teacher outside the classroom and the extra curricular activities. In addition, within each teacher training programme PLS teachers will explore the pedagogy of education, the subject or phase, both of which allow continual praxis by the PLS teachers we work with.

PLS offers a range of one year full time teacher training programmes including:

School Direct Salaried (QTS only)

This programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status while the PLS teacher is employed and paid a salary on the unqualified teacher pay scale. The employing school will pay the fees required for the teacher training programme, while the PLS teacher trains ‘on the job’.  On this route  PLS teachers will have a large proportion of school based training meaning a greater scale of time will be spent in the classroom.

Training for School Direct Salaried (QTS only) PLS teachers will also include weekly Professional Studies Curriculum that will focus on teaching and learning, while Subject Knowledge for Teaching Curriculum will focus on subject and curriculum knowledge, and pedagogy of the subject.

PLS School Direct Salaried (QTS + PGCE) 

This programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status and the academic award of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, comprising of 60 M Level credits, which is currently validated by University of Sussex.  However, unlike the School Direct Tuition (QTS + PGCE), this programme means the PLS teacher is employed by a partner school and paid a salary on the unqualified teacher pay scale. The employing school will pay the fees required for the teacher training programme, while you train ‘on the job’.  On this route PLS teachers will have a large proportion of school based training meaning a greater scale of time will be spent in the classroom.

Training for School Direct Salaried (QTS only) PLS teachers will also include weekly Professional Studies Curriculum that will focus on teaching and learning, while Subject Knowledge for Teaching Curriculum will focus on subject and curriculum knowledge, and pedagogy of the subject.  In addition there will be more time focused on the content of the PGCE and completing M Level assignments.

This programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status.  On this route PLS teachers will have a large proportion of school based training, however PLS teachers will initially explore the classroom setting through the eyes of an observer, which will lead into PLS teachers gradually building their direct teaching and learning experiences over the course of the programme.
